I’ve often walked past these potato and poblano tacos while shopping at Trader Joe’s. I like my tacos with MEAT. A lot of meat. But this past weekend, I finally gave in and took a box home. Here is my honest review of Trader Joe’s Crispy Potato & Poblano Pepper Tacos.
What Is In The Tacos?
These tacos are filled with mashed potatoes, poblano peppers, and a bunch of spices. That’s it. These tacos are simple with minimal ingredients.
Cost
These tacos are very budget-friendly. At $4.99 for six tacos equals less than a dollar a taco. Although there is no meat, how can you beat less than 1 dollar tacos? Perfect for Taco Tuesday.
How To Make These Crispy Potato and Poblano Pepper Tacos
The box provides three different ways to prepare these tacos: conventional oven, air fryer, and microwave. I prepared them in the oven and the air fryer. I highly recommend that you DO NOT microwave these tacos. If you do, you can remove the “Crispy” from their name. I personally prefer to make them in the air fryer. It takes less time and produces crispier tacos.
How Does It Taste?
First, these tacos came from the oven and air fryer drenched in oil. Of course, a lot of oil is needed to create a crispy taco. A quick dab with a paper towel soaked up the extra oil.
These tacos were crispy, oily, and flavorful. If you like Jack in the Box tacos, then you will love them. The texture of the tacos is very similar. You can definitely feel the texture of the mashed potatoes on your tongue. There is a teeny tiny bit of heat coming from the poblano pepper. But that is coming from someone who eats VERY spicy foods. So, if you’re sensitive to heat, keep that in mind. You can definitely taste the spices used in these tacos. Overall, all of the flavors go well together.

Would I buy these tacos again? Yes, I will. These tacos are something I will keep them in my chest freezer. Whenever I want a quick, crispy taco, I can pop them in the air fryer and enjoy them in less than 10 minutes. I like to enjoy my tacos with a side of sour crème and salsa.
My overall rating of Trader Joe’s Crispy Potato and Poblano Pepper Tacos is 7 out of 10.
